Camera Angle Samples Assignment

Side note- all these videos were submitted to my teacher as a Canvas Assignment because of trouble uploading to blogger because of file size/error

Video 1- Point of View Shot

Description of Shot- A shot that gives the audience a view from a character's perspective by positioning the camera right where the character's eyes would be

Experience Creating it- The shot was fairly easy to make except for the fact that I had my phone right in my face so I could not see very well. I walked and turned very slow to produce almost a scary or ominous feeling like there was something around the corner.

Video 2- Pan Shot

Description of Shot- The horizontal movement in which the camera moves from right to left from a central axis

Experience Creating it- Very plain and easy shot to produce, just standing in a corner of a room and slowly moving the phone panning across the room.

Video 3- Tracking Shot

Description of Shot- A shot in which the camera physically moves sideways, forward, or backward tracking the action, character, or object through the scene

Experience Creating it- This shot was very difficult because of what I tried tracking. I tried tracking my cat that apparently wasn't in the mood to follow the toy placed behind the camera, but eventually she got somewhat got there in the end and it ended up being a decent shot.

Video 4- Out of Focus Shot

Description of Shot- A shot in which it is out of focus or blurry and not sharp or clear

Experience Creating it- I came up with a unique mixed idea of a point of view shot and a blurry shot. In which you wake up out of bed with your really tired eyes almost squinting creating the blurry effect of just waking up. This shot was pretty intricate to make because to make the shot blurry I had to mess with it in the editing video to make it blurry.

Video 5- Dolly-in Shot

Description of Shot- Any shot where the camera moves or follows backwards, forwards, or just moves along, preferably at a steady level and pace

Experience Creating it- I had to be creative and stacks some book on a office chair so the phone would be elevated on the chair while the chair is not visible at the same time. I worked around a really tight space so it took me about 3 tries to make the dolly-in look smooth and steady.

Video 6- Low Angle Shot

Description of Shot- A low angle shot is any type of shot that comes from a camera angle positioned low on the vertical axis

Experience Creating it- I tried to find the highest place in my house where it was possible to position an object while it appearing high up. It ended up not being the best shot because I couldn't find a great elevated spot to shoot the low angle but made it work by just positioning myself on the ground and recording upwards.

Video 7- Over the Shoulder Shot

Description of Shot- A shot in which the camera is placed just behind a person or their shoulder so that their shoulder is in the frame and you can see what is going on

Experience Creating it- It was hard doing this shot alone trying to hold the camera over my shoulder while my other hand was typing on a computer, but I made it work in the end and it looked pretty good. It took a couple of tried because with the phone behind me I couldn't time it or even see if the shot was correct or blocked by me.

Video 8- Crab Shot

Description of Shot- A crab shot is the sideways movement of a camera, not physically turning it left, right, forwards, or backwards, but moving horizontally instead.

Experience Creating it- Since I was alone to shoot this shot and my cats didn't want to cooperate I resorted to using my dolly-in mechanism and me holding up the Nemo as seen in the video tracking it moving or "swimming" in the air horizontally back and forth. The shot took a couple of tried because the floor was made of carpet and sometimes trying to move the chair slowly sometimes didn't even move at all because of the rough surface.

Video 9- Arc Shot

Description of Shot- An arc shot is the movement of the camera in a full circle or semi-circle around an object or character

Experience Creating it- My cat was in the perfect spot for me to shoot this shot so I decided on it. The shot was pretty easy to make since it was just walking around the cat pointing the camera at it. The cat kept turning its head following the camera at times but I couldn't do anything about it.

Video 10- Close up Shot

Description of Shot- A shot that tightly frames a person or object

Experience Creating it- This shot was pretty easy to make as I just stuffed it in my cats face for about 20 seconds. It was hard to keep her concentrated and looking at the camera or keeping her face up but it got their in the end.
